She has to contend with numerous challenges, for instance as a President who also is his communications director. Schlapp has been keeping an eye on the goal, coordinating policy implementation together with White House staff from the department of legislative and political affairs and the policy shop, and broader communications. She has focused on topics such as security at schools, opioids, infrastructure as well as trade. The current position she holds doesn't require much contact with reporters. But, back in March, her name was rumored as a candidate to take over Hope Hicks at the Communications Director job. There's been some tense fights. Schlapp has sided with Tony Sayegh, who was a candidate. The two began fighting in the media. When the Washington Examiner published a negative story about Sayegh, Schlapp said she called him to have a heart to heart.
